Create A Morning Ritual to get Creativity, focus and energy

I’m a big fan of morning rituals. Because they can change the way you start your day, by making you feel happy and excited.

Tony Robbins, for example, uses his morning ritual to change the state of his mind. Others use their morning rituals as a way to feel more creative.

In my case, mornings rituals make me even more excited to work on my projects. I already love to work on those, but mornings are when I feel more creative and focus.

I’ve read a ton of books and information about other people’s rituals. And so I’ve changed my own ritual more than 10 times to try and see what works best with me. I highly encourage you to try different approaches to your routine in the morning and see how you feel about those.

I’ve experimented with cold showers, long walks, exercise, meditation, music, reading books, etc. But now, I have a more structured routine that works the best for me.

my Morning Ritual at the moment:

  1. I wake up with my alarm (I use the “Sleep Cycle” App)

  2. While in bed, I answer 4 mornings questions to let gratitude feel my soul (my type of meditation)

  3. I drink a full glass of water with lemon and salt

  4. I get ready while I listen to an audiobook or podcast (to acquire knowledge)

  5. I drink my bulletproof coffee

  6. I start to work on my projects

When Summer arrives, I like to walk in my garden for 15 minutes, while I read a book. Because it’s hot outside and also because I have more time to get ready (summer vacation).

But as you can imagine, I’m constantly changing my routine so it fit my needs.

For example, if I want to feel more creative in the mornings, I might add a creativity exercise to my ritual. Or if I want more energy, I would add physical exercise before starting to work.

You definitely should think about your needs at the moment, and make sure your routine fulfil those needs. Because that’s the only way you can make your morning ritual effective.

Action: Write down what is the type of work you do in the mornings and what it requires (creativity, energy, focus, etc).

A Morning Ritual to Feel more Creative:

  1. You wake up with your alarm (I use the “Sleep Cycle” App);

  2. While in bed, think about 2/3 creative (and ridiculous) reasons to be alive. Honestly, the more stupid they sound, the better. (example: I’m alive because someone needs to wash the dishes today!)

  3. Drink a full glass of water

  4. Get ready while listening to an audiobook or podcast (chose books that offer a totally different perspective)

  5. Do a creativity exercise. For example, write 10 ideas off stuff you could invent (again, those don’t need to be great ideas).

  6. Eat your breakfast

  7. Start working

A Morning Ritual to Feel more Energised:

  1. You wake up with your alarm (I use the “Sleep Cycle” App);

  2. While in bed, get your musical playlist ready

  3. Drink a full glass of water

  4. Put on your workout clothes and go for a run, while listening to your favourite kinds of music.

  5. Track your results (with specific apps or devices), so you can improve.

  6. Eat your breakfast

  7. Start working

A Morning Ritual to Feel more Focused:

  1. You wake up with your alarm (I use the “Sleep Cycle” App);

  2. While in bed, think about the 3 goals you want to accomplish that day. If possible, write the reasons why you want to achieve those goals.

  3. Drink a full glass of water

  4. Get ready while listening to an audiobook or podcast (listen to a great audiobook, that can provide you new insights for your project or business).

  5. Meditate for 10 minutes (i use the help of the app “HeadSpace).

  6. Eat your breakfast

  7. Start working

Well, you don’t have more excuses for not having your own ritual. But again, make sure you try it yourself, and make some rearrangements, if necessary.
