Courage.

It's one thing to be courageous and another to be fearless. Even though becoming fearless seems like a great item to add to a bucket-list, it can result in death. Fear is an emotional response to a threat and it allowed us to survive as a species.

Being courageous is not the absence of fear, but rather having the endurance to embrace fear and becoming intimate with it. Pema Chodron, the author of "When Things Fall Apart", states that instead of running away from fear and fearing fear itself, we should accept it as an opportunity to grow and lean into it. Whatever the reason for the fear, step back, and find what is there to learn. Spiritual warriors feel lucky in a moment of fear. They take it as an occasion to develop themselves and expand their emotional baggage.

The fear of publishing a book. The fear of a difficult conversation. The fear of starting a new business. The fear of saying no. The fear of giving up what seems like an incredible opportunity. The fear of learning something new. The fear of uncertainty. The fear of getting lost.

Despite the nature of your fear, find what is there to learn and embrace it. Fully.

To be fearless isn’t really to overcome fear, it’s to come to know its nature.
— Pema Chodron
